Meet Green Life Business Group, the Nation’s Largest Cannabis Business Brokerage
The cannabis business isn’t for everyone. The challenges can sometimes seem overwhelming, while taxes, regulatory fees, and IRS rules can make turning a profit a hit-or-miss proposition. When owners in the cannabis industry decide it’s time to move on to greener pastures, many seek the services of Green Life Business Group to sell their businesses.
Green Life serves as a broker for a wide range of cannabis businesses, including dispensaries, cultivators, and processing facilities. In an interview, Green Life CEO Drew Mathews notes that his company is a leader in the U.S. cannabis industry.
“We’re the largest business brokerage for cannabis in the country,” Mathews says in a telephone interview with IgniteIt. “We operate across 23 states. We currently have over 200 listings, all exclusive, currently on the market. We’ve done over 350 cannabis transactions, which is something that we’re very proud of.”
Other brokerages have cannabis business offerings that can also be found with different firms. At Green Life, however, the businesses for sale won’t be available from other brokers.
“All of Green Life’s listings are exclusive, which is important to note, because I think we’re the only company that does that,” says Mathews.
Attorney Gordon K. Sattro, Green Life’s in-house counsel, tells IgniteIt that years of expansion in the cannabis industry have largely been replaced by a retraction in many markets. But savvy investors are still able to find potentially lucrative opportunities in the industry.
“After years of breakneck growth, we’re now seeing a correction – a strategic reset,” Sattro writes in an email to IgniteIt. “Many operators are struggling under high taxes, illicit market competition, and debt from rapid expansions, which has led to a rise in distress sales and receiverships.”
“However, he adds, “distressed doesn’t have to mean doomed. With the right process, even troubled assets can find new life and fair value.”
Green Life Is Going International
While some cannabis markets in the U.S. are already maturing, other opportunities in the sector are opening up worldwide. As a result, Green Life will expand its footprint with plans to expand internationally at the beginning of 2026.
“Our initial focus spans six countries – Germany, Portugal, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Poland, and Canada – each offering unique opportunities,” Sattro explains. “Germany, for example, boasts Europe’s largest medical market and is exploring adult-use legalization. Portugal and Denmark have progressive medical programs open to innovation.”
“The UK and Poland are early-stage markets where our operational expertise can add tremendous value,” he adds. “And Canada, our neighbor to the north, is a mature legal market that remains buyer-friendly for strategic acquisitions. In Canada and elsewhere, we’ll seek out processing facilities, leading brands, retail chains with disciplined operations, and even contract manufacturing capacity that can be scaled across borders.”
