Marrone Bio Innovations (NASDAQ:MBII) has announced that it has received the first approval of the use of REGALIA MAXX biofungicide for the use on cannabis and hemp (hemp and marijuana are two varieties of the same plant cannabis sativa) in Canada.
Cannabis is susceptible to powdery mildew. It can destroy complete crops and increases the plant’s vulnerability to other diseases. It spreads very quickly if not treated as soon as it is detected. The early use of REGALIA MAXX strengthens the plant and prevents mildew from spreading.
Cannabis is legal in Canada. Its growth is highly regulated and may be considered to be a food or drug. Most of it is certified as organic and chemical treatment options are limited.
REGAILA also has approval for use on cannabis in California USA, which has the largest acreage of organic farming in the Unites States.
Continued acceptance of its products in new areas and on new crops should shield Marrone Bio from the impact of COVID-19. The first steps are regulatory approval.
