Inside Cronos’ 58% Revenue Growth: Market Share and Expansion
The company is gaining Canadian market share, expanding production and preparing a Dutch acquisition that could lift annualized revenue to $260 million.
Cronos Group (NASDAQ: CRON) is outperforming many of its Canadian cannabis peers, with second-quarter revenue increasing 58% year over year to $53 million, according to a new report from cannabis equity analyst Pablo Zuanic.
The October 13 report highlights growth across Canada, Israel and international medical cannabis exports, supported by a major cultivation expansion.
Canada accounted for 54% of quarterly revenue, Israel for 28% and other international markets for 18%.
Canadian recreational revenue increased 50% to approximately $29 million, Israeli revenue rose 60% (32% in constant currency), and other international sales jumped 88% to $9.3 million.
Taking Market Share in Canada
According to Hifyre data cited by Zuanic, Cronos climbed to fourth place among Canadian recreational cannabis producers, with 6.1% market share, up 1.3 percentage points year over year.
Its domestic retail sales increased 27%, compared with just 0.6% growth for the overall market.
The gains were concentrated in higher-growth product categories:
- Vapes: Sales increased 76%, compared with 13% category growth. Vapes now represent 35% of Cronos’ Canadian recreational sales.
- Pre-rolls: Sales increased 18%, compared with 3% market growth.
- Flower: Sales declined 5%, compared with an 8% market contraction.
- Edibles: Sales were flat, with Cronos holding approximately 21% category share.
The company’s Spinach brand also held a 10.6% share of Canada’s vape market and 20.8% of edibles, according to management figures cited in the report.
Cultivation and International Growth
Cronos’ 50%-owned GrowCo joint venture operates a greenhouse in Kingsville, Ontario, with estimated annual production capacity exceeding 150 metric tons, following a 70% expansion completed in 2025.
Cronos has the right to purchase up to 70% of the facility’s production at below-market rates. GrowCo is GACP-certified but is still awaiting EU-GMP certification.
International exports excluding Israel reached $9.3 million in the second quarter, representing an estimated 5.2 metric tons and more than 6% of Canada’s dried-flower export value.
Zuanic identifies Germany and the United Kingdom as important drivers of future export demand.
The Netherlands Expansion
Cronos is also pursuing its €57.5 million ($67 million) upfront cash acquisition of CanAdelaar, a leading producer in the Netherlands’ regulated adult-use cannabis pilot.
The target generated $48 million in revenue and $28 million in EBITDA over the 12 months ending September 2025, representing an EBITDA margin of approximately 58%.
Additional payments tied to 2026 and 2027 EBITDA could increase the total purchase price to approximately $95 million under Zuanic’s illustrative assumptions.
The acquisition remains subject to regulatory approval, with closing expected in the second half of 2026.
If completed, Zuanic estimates that the transaction could increase Cronos’ annualized revenue from approximately $210 million to $260 million.
With cultivation capacity expanding and international sales growing, the next challenge will be translating additional production into sustained earnings and free cash flow.
