About IgniteIt / Editorial Standards
Editorial standards
Last updated October 2026
IgniteIt publishes news, analysis and interviews on the business of cannabis for executives, operators and investors. This page explains who makes editorial decisions, how we report, how we separate sponsored content from journalism and how to request a correction.
Who runs the newsroom
Nicolás Rodríguez, Managing Editor, leads IgniteIt’s editorial team and runs content strategy with input from IgniteIt’s executive team. Javier Hasse, Co-Founder and Editorial Advisor, advises on coverage. Every article is published under the name of the person who wrote it, and each author has a profile listing their background and recent work. Meet our authors.
Accuracy and sourcing
- We report from primary sources wherever possible: company filings, earnings releases and calls, court records, regulator data and on-the-record interviews.
- Figures, quotes and claims are attributed to their source. When we rely on another outlet’s reporting, we credit and link to it.
- Quotes are reproduced accurately. We may trim quotes for length but do not change their meaning.
- We use anonymous sources only when the information is important and cannot be obtained on the record, and only with the Managing Editor’s approval. We explain to readers why the source was granted anonymity.
- Analysis and opinion, including columns, are labeled as such and are based on facts we have verified.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made by our editorial team. Advertisers, sponsors and event partners do not review, approve or edit editorial coverage before it is published, and buying advertising, sponsorship or an event package does not buy coverage.
IgniteIt also produces business conferences, including the Cannabis Capital Conference, the Capital & Policy Summit and the Market Spotlight series. When an article covers our own events, or a company that is a sponsor or partner of those events, we say so in the article.
Sponsored content
IgniteIt publishes some sponsored articles (also called Partner Insights or advertorials). We have a set process for keeping them separate from editorial content:
- Sponsored articles are clearly labeled as sponsored and carry a disclosure that names the partner who paid for them.
- They are produced separately from our news reporting, and the partner’s involvement is disclosed to readers.
- Sponsorship has no influence on our independent news coverage of that partner or its competitors.
Guest columns
IgniteIt publishes guest columns from operators, investors, lawyers and other industry practitioners. Guest columns come from external, unpaid contributors and are clearly identified: each carries the contributor’s name and role at the top and a note at the end identifying it as a guest column. Guest columns are not IgniteIt reporting, are not edited by our newsroom for content or accuracy, and the views in them are the authors’ own. To propose a column, email editorial@igniteit.com.
Press releases
We republish some company press releases from wire services such as GlobeNewswire and PR Newswire. They are attributed to the wire service and the issuing company, published as received, and are not reviewed or endorsed by IgniteIt’s newsroom.
Conflicts of interest
Writers disclose to the Managing Editor any financial interest or relationship that could affect, or appear to affect, their coverage of a company, and are reassigned when appropriate. Nothing published on IgniteIt is investment advice.
Corrections
We aim to get things right, and we fix mistakes quickly and openly. If you believe something we published is inaccurate, email editorial@igniteit.com with the article link and the correction you are requesting.
- We review every request and respond as promptly as we can.
- When we correct a factual error, we update the article and add a dated correction note explaining what changed.
- Minor fixes such as spelling or formatting are made without a note.
- We do not remove published articles on request except in rare cases, such as legal or safety concerns.
